Posters for a series of jam sessions bringing together artists from different genres. For this assignment, I spent a semester creating ‘type-only’ compositions which communicated a narrative that had to do with the cacophony of sound in a public place. Finally, my task was to create a typographic poster communicating an imaginary event that had the same qualities of cacophony, using the past compositions as raw material. I named my event ‘Two Together’, which is a literal translation of the Hindi word for jamming (jugalbandi). This phrase, which captures the idea behind the event, also became the basis for creating my compositions. The poster on the next page is a stand-alone poster for the event. Later we experimented with creating a series of two color posters along the same lines. The final poster shown on the opposite page was created by overlapping all those posters to communicate the cacophony of the event. The typography in these posters is mostly hand-generated. Some letters are drawn, while others are cut out of paper.
