Thesis Film—The Journey
This film represents the outcome of my thesis study at California College of the Arts in Spring 2010. I shot and narrated it in its entirety. Simply, it explores the profoundness that lies behind the mundane. As designers, we are trained to pay attention to, as well as create the beautiful and unusual. As a result, we often look for inspiration in other beautiful and unusual things. However, I believe that some of the best design can emerge from examining the opposite—mundane and everyday objects, behavior and phenomenon. I focused on something personally mundane—my daily commute, and used it to explore this premise. Lighting, editing, music, voice over, post production: in Adobe After Effects. Honors: Best Thesis Award at California College of the Arts / Semi-Finalist at Adobe Design Achievement Awards.
