A book addressing gender-based pay inequity in the United States. Size: 5.5"x8.5" To earn as much as men did in 2008, women had to work from January 2008 to April 2009. An extra 4 months! Most people know that pay inequity exists but they accept it as a problem so entrenched in our society, that the facts regarding the problem are glossed over. I believe that if people have access to concrete facts and figures, they will progress from acceptance towards action. When conceptualizing this project, I was convinced that only the medium of the book could hold enough details to communicate the enormity of the problem of pay inequity. The specific format of a planner seemed to be a perfect opportunity to create something around the idea of the four extra months. Moreover, people interact with their planners on a daily basis, several times a day. As a result, it would serve as the perfect daily reminder of the issue to a wide audience.
